I'm sorry if I'm being dense, but I just don't understand EXACTLY what "changes" are automatically being made to style settings just because a score is opened.

If you know you will not generally want to update the style settings for any older scores upon opening, you can also check the box to not show the dialog again when opening a score. So it does offer to save the score, but you can freely choose not to. That choice itself would be remembered if you elect to then save the score, but if you don't elect to save it, Musescore will have no way to remember which choice you made, or even that you had ever previously opened that score at all. If you do not wish to update the style settings, simply choose to keep old style.

If you wish to do this, your OS probably has ways of resetting the modified date, eg in Windows Explorer. Saving without updating the modified date would be a lie, but there can be valid reasons for wanting to tell that lie for sure. So making the change "stick" requires saving it, and saving it normally updates the modified date. This is true whether you do the change via a dialog when first opening the score or whether you do the change in Format / Style or in the Inspector.

But that's a huge clerical effort and very prone to manual error.Īny suggestions for how to automatically update old scores to the new format WITHOUT changing the "last modified" date?Ī change to style settings is a change, and if you want that change to be seen by the next person who opens that score, you need to save that change. Yes, I know it's possible to save each existing file in the new format and then manually (e.g.via Windows Power Shell) change the "last modified" date to the previous status. But if that date doesn't represent the actual last date the content was modified, it's worthless. (I also find it very helpful to be able to sort all scores by "last modified" date. IWhy do I care? Well, I have hundreds of MuseScore scores, and to make sure that anyone I'm sharing a score with is working with the same version, my standard footer includes the "last modified" date as well as the title. If I accidentally save a score with no content change, Windows will change the "last modified" date for the file.

This makes it very difficult to distinguish between a real change I've made to the CONTENT of the score from just a FORMAT update required to conform with the standards for the latest version. Our work presents in an analytical manner why machine-generated music to date still falls short of the artwork of humanity, and sets some goals for future work on automatic composition to further pursue.Since the 3.6 upgrade, whenever I load a score created with a previous version, it gets flagged as "modified". This includes analyzing the statistics of the pitch class, grooving, and chord progression, assessing the structureness of the music with the help of the fitness scape plot, and evaluating the model's understanding of Jazz music through a MIREX-like continuation prediction task.

We therefore go one step further and conduct a series of computational analysis of the generated compositions from different perspectives. While we are able to reduce the training loss to a low value, our listening test suggests however a clear gap between the average ratings of the generated and real compositions. Moreover, the model endeavors to incorporate structural events present in the Weimar Jazz Database (WJazzD) for inducing structures in the generated music. This paper presents the Jazz Transformer, a generative model that utilizes a neural sequence model called the Transformer-XL for modeling lead sheets of Jazz music.
